Is There Such Thing as Too Much Star Wars?

While it’s no secret that Disney and Lucasfilm have big plans for the future of Star Wars, we were still caught a little off-guard at today’s announcement that Rian Johnson, director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, would be returning to a galaxy far, far away for not one, but three (3) new movies.

Johnson is attached to write and direct an entire new trilogy, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman producing. It’s unclear where the films take place, either geographically or chronologically, but the announcement explained that the new trilogy “is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga” and that “Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”

ViewSonic XG2700-4K Gaming Monitor Review

4K monitors have gone through a bit of a slow burn in terms of wide acceptance. Sure, no one can deny the jaw-dropping beauty of an image presented in a resolution four-times larger than 1080p, but high prices and a dearth of media content had previously kept many from taking the 4K plunge.

Thankfully, prices have come down significantly in the last year and 4K gaming is very much a mainstream reality in the era of consoles like PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X and cheaper-than-ever PC GPUs. The ViewSonic XG2700-4K (See it on Amazon) is still going to take a hefty chunk from the old wallet at almost $600, but this gorgeous 3840 x 2160 screen is a solid, near future-proof investment—particularly if you’re using an AMD graphics card and can take advantage of its FreeSync compatibility.

Destiny 2 Weekly Reset Time Is Changing; Here’s When And Why

Bungie is changing up the timing of Destiny 2‘s weekly reset. Currently, the reset happens at 1 AM PT on the Tuesday of each week, but starting with the release of the Curse of Osiris expansion on December 5, the weekly resets will take place at 9 AM PT.

Here’s how that works out to where you might live:

  • 9 AM PST
  • 12 PM EST
  • 5 PM GMT
  • 9 PM MSK
  • 2 AM JST
  • 4 AM AEDT
  • 6 AM NZDT

In a blog post, Bungie said it is making this change because it wants the resets to happen in conjunction with new content releases. Under the previous setup, players could not always earn new rewards tied to a specific piece of content because the game hadn’t reset yet to reflect the new release. Bungie did take steps to address this, but the developer acknowledged that “we were unable to prevent every scenario.”

“Additionally, we’re seeking to align the Milestone resets with event availability, such as Trials of the Nine or Iron Banner, to provide a uniform experience for players to follow each week,” Bungie said.

Destiny 2’s resets affect things like various types of milestones, as raid checkpoints, meditations, clan engrams, clan XP caps, and more. Some things are reset daily, including activities and destination challenges. There are also seasonal resets, though Destiny 2 is still on Season One, so that hasn’t happened yet.

The game’s second season begins on December 5, which is the day that Destiny’s Curse of Osiris expansion launches. In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie has announced Xbox One X and PS4 Pro patches for the game, while the studio also announced a new way to earn double XP.

Gotham: “Stop Hitting Yourself” Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

An entire Gotham episode mostly about the show’s oddball, ever-changing B characters? Okay. Why the hell not?

The most striking thing about “Stop Hitting Yourself,” aside from Grundy’s new finishing maneuver that involved ripping much smaller men’s arms off and beating them to death with it, was the fact that the biggest story elements, concerning the show’s main seasonal arc, happened off in side stories. Jim became captain of “Gotham Central” (having given himself permission to take over for Harvey when Harvey became bitter and antagonistic due to booze and shame) while Penguin started to get wise to Sofia Falcone’s tricks (all because of the lessons he was teaching a little silent psycho orphan named Martin).

Destiny 2 Adding A New Way To Get Double XP, Here’s How

Bungie is rolling out a new way for Destiny 2 players to earn double XP. This is being done through what Bungie is calling a “Clarion Call.” As part of this, beginning on November 17 and running through the weekend, players who fight alongside other clam members in their fireteam will earn double XP.

You have to be in a clan to get the double XP reward. If you’re not already in one, all the information about how to create or join a clan can be found here on Bungie’s website. It’s a relatively simple process, and well worth doing to get that double XP reward. The double XP bonus begins at 10 AM PT on November 17 and ends the same time on November 20, Bungie announced in its newest blog post.

While this event sounds like Bungie’s way of pushing players to create and join clans, the developer also has something in store for solo players. Playing solo is fine and people enjoy that. If you’re in the camp, you may be happy to learn that future Clarion Call events will not mandate that you’re in a clan to be rewarded. However, Bungie did not provide any specifics on the solo Clarion Calls and what the rewards might be.

In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie also said today it is preparing to launch launch Xbox One X and PS4 Pro patches for the game. Those patches are coming in December alongside the new expansion, Curse of Osiris.

Destiny 2 Xbox One X And PS4 Pro Patches Are Coming

Destiny 2 is getting updated to take advantage of the power of the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro, developer Bungie announced today. Bungie will update both games to support the new consoles on December 5, which is the day that Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris expansion launches. December 5 is also the start-date of Destiny 2 Season Two.

Bungie’s blog post announcing the updates does not go into a lot of detail about what players can expect in terms of upgrades or enhancements on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, only to say you’ll see “stunning gameplay with high dynamic range lighting.” Additionally, there will be “adaptive 4K resolution” on PS4 Pro and regular 4K on Xbox One X.

“If you’re migrating to these new consoles, or already have, we’ll make it worth your investment,” Bungie said.

The Xbox One X was released earlier this week, on November 7, while the PlayStation 4 Pro has been available since November 2016. Microsoft bills the Xbox One X as the most powerful console ever made; it is reportedly 40 percent more powerful than any other system on the market.

Given that the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are significantly more expensive than the standard models, they will likely have a smaller install base, at least right away. Some games play and perform better without patches but dedicated patches typically take things further. We’ll report back with more details on Destiny 2’s Xbox One X and PS4 Pro patches as details come to light.
