Overwatch: Halloween Terror 2017 Event Now Live

Overwatch’s Halloween Terror 2017 event is now live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and will run until November 2.

Players will be able to explore the haunted streets of Eichenwalde and Hollywood. You’ll have a chance to unlock Halloween-themed items from last year’s event, along with 50 all-new items via re-opened crypts.

Some of these items include special legendary skins like Corsair Ana, Van Helsing McCree, Dragon Symmetra, and Cultist Zenyatta. Some of these skins for characters such as Mei and Symmetra were leaked a few days ago following Blizzard’s initial teaser of the returning event.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride Episode 1 Review

“April Showers Bring May Flowers” picks up before the events of the first three-part OVA, “Those Awaiting a Star.” It’s not quite as unsettling as the recounting of series’ protagonist Hatori Chise’s past, but its disturbing themes and glimmers of hope still ring very true in this introductory episode. You won’t need to see the OVA to keep pace, but it does provide context to Chise’s actions. But even in this episode’s darkest moments, there’s an overwhelming sense of wonder that enchanted me into its world deeply seeded in Celtic mythology and faerie lore.

Desperate to find a place to not worry about her survival, Chise sells herself into slavery to be bought by a powerful non-human sorcerer named Elias Ainsworth. He takes her in not only to train her as an apprentice but to become his future wife. This is by no means the typical love story between two obnoxiously beautiful, perfect characters. It’s dark and foreboding with characters that are very much broken; it’s in coming together that they can grow and put an end to their suffering.

All Hellblade Profits Go Toward Charity Today

In support of World Mental Health Day, which is observed each year on October 10, Ninja Theory is donating all proceeds from today’s sales of its most recent release, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, to charity.

As the developer announced on Twitter, all of today’s profits will be given to Rethink Mental Illness, an English charity that provides support to those who are affected by mental illness. This applies to global sales on both PlayStation 4 and PC, Ninja Theory clarified, and only includes money the developer receives “from retailers/platforms from the sales.”

How to Make Destiny 2 Even Better

Destiny 2 launched in much better shape than the original game. It tells a much better story filled with interesting characters, features a really smart leveling curve, and adds a ton of quality of life improvements. Plus, a pretty dope Raid hit just a week after the game launched.

Still, there are ways that Bungie can make Destiny 2 even better. Here are some of our suggestions.

As of right now, Lost Sectors are little more than bland caves filled with a slew of random enemies and one single high-level boss. It’d be great if Bungie expanded these a bit and made them feel more like small, self-contained dungeons. Maybe some puzzles, a bit of story and lore, and differing atmospheres to incentivize exploring their depths.

Bethesda is promoting The Good Within by working with streamers who will play The Evil Within 2 this week ahead of its launch and talk about the charitable campaign.

The Evil Within 2 launches on the appropriately scary date of Friday the 13th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. In other news, director Shinji Mikami said he is interested in porting the game to Nintendo Switch. Bethesda is already working on Switch ports of Skyrim, Doom, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

In other charitable gaming news, Humble Bundle’s latest weekly sale is focused on games with female protagonists. Additionally, the newest Humble Bundle is themed around Stardock games. You can learn more about both offers here.

Thor: Ragnarok Director Won’t Whitewash Akira Movie

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi confirmed to IGN that he has been approached about directing a live-action feature film adaptation of Akira, but he was coy and non-committal about whether he would.

He confirmed there had been “talks” but alternated between speaking about the project in the past and present tense even as he also offered his thoughts on his approach to adapting the material and casting the film.

When I asked Waititi if he was going to direct Akira, he replied, “I am — that was more or less a rumor. There was, I mean, I was in talks to do that, for sure, and something that I was very passionate about — am passionate about.”

SNES Classic Edition Back In Stock At GameStop And ThinkGeek This Week

Those still hunting for a SNES Classic Edition in the United States have at least two options for where they have a chance to buy one this week. GameStop and its subsidiary ThinkGeek have announced that more units are arriving, but–as always–you’ll need to act fast as demand remains high.

Beginning today, October 10, GameStop and ThinkGeek retail locations will begin receiving shipments of the micro console. GameStop stores should “have their full allotment by Thursday, October 12, at the latest,” according to a statement shared with GameSpot. These will be standalone, individual units that you can pick up for $80. There’s no guarantee that stores will have the system in stock today, and GameStop advises calling your local store to inquire about availability.

Provided you miss out or can’t make it to a store today, both retailers will begin selling units online tomorrow, October 11. At GameStop, standalone systems and bundles will be available, while ThinkGeek’s website will also sell the console on its own.

SNES Classic pre-orders sold out well in advance of launch, and release day also saw demand outpace supply. Difficulties in obtaining the NES Classic Edition no doubt played a role in that, but Nintendo insists you should not pay more than retail price for one. It has said it will ship far more units of the SNES Classic than it did the NES Classic, and it has already expanded its plans and will continue shipping the system into 2018.

If you aren’t able to pick one up at GameStop or ThinkGeek, we’re continuing to track how you can buy a SNES Classic Edition. And if you’re still wondering whether it’s worth all the fuss, check out our SNES Classic Edition review.
