Rick and Morty Killed a Character in an Old Spice Ad

Rick and Morty killed off a beloved side character, but you wouldn’t have noticed it in the show, as the death happened in an ad.

In a bit of sponsored content to promote Old Spice, the character of Butter Bot meets its untimely demise in an Old Spice ad.

During the commercial, Rick bursts into Morty’s bedroom to “sell out” by promoting Old Spice deodorant spray. Large sentient cans of Old Spice start trashing Morty’s room, and one of them picks up Butter Bot and throws it into the mouth of another can. Meanwhile, Rick blithely counts the cash he made for shilling Old Spice.

The Adult Swim show from Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland has never been conventional, and that certainly is the case here. For those who aren’t familiar with Butter Bot, it first appeared in the cold open of the season two episode “Something Ricked This Way Comes.”

Tom Hardy’s Venom Will Be Performance Captured, Says Andy Serkis

Tom Hardy’s performance as Venom in the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff will reportedly be done through performance capture, according to an actor well-versed in the field.

Andy Serkis, speaking with Yahoo! UK about his performance capture work, said Hardy is using the technology for a role.

“Acting is acting, and the more actors – like Steve Zahn… and Karin Konoval who plays Maurice in War For The Planet of the Apes – the more A-list actors that come on board, like Mark Rylance playing The BFG, or a lot of actors in the new Marvel films… Tom Hardy is playing a new character using performance capture,” Serkis told Yahoo.

Riverdale: “Chapter 16: The Watcher in the Woods” Review

Full spoilers for Riverdale continue below.

With one dead and two more seriously injured, Riverdale’s masked attacker finally revealed himself in “Chapter 16: The Watcher in the Woods” — and the mystery only got deeper. The Black Hood, a nod to an Archie Comics character that first debuted in 1940, is disposing of those he feels have sinned. When it comes to Riverdale, that could be practically anybody.

While that motivation could easily be a cover for something else, it’s refreshing to see the series move from the deeply personal hunt for Jason Blossom’s (Trevor Stines) killer in Season 1 to a villain that is seemingly a stranger. It helps with the feeling that nobody in town is safe. While in the first season, you wouldn’t have expected characters like Moose (Cody Kearsley) or Ethel (Shannon Purser) to be potential targets, everyone is fair game when it comes to the Black Hood.

New Amazon Service Delivers Packages Into Your Home

In its constant quest to make online shopping as absurdly convenient as possible, Amazon has announced a new service: deliveries that are dropped off inside your home.

That’s right, Amazon’s new initiative, called Amazon Key, aims to change even the final moment of a package delivery, when a courier drops a box off on your stoop or doorstep. There is a catch, however: you’ll need to have an Amazon Cloud Cam, the company’s new security camera that it recently revealed, and a smart lock installed on your front door.

If activated, a courier bearing your delivery can unlock your door with an app, slide the box into your house, and then close and re-lock the door. Although this will certainly spark privacy concerns, Amazon promises that it has trained its drivers to avoid actually entering homes. Customers will also be notified throughout deliveries, and they can check on their house using their Cloud Cam feed.

If you want to get started, you’ll need to shell out a good chunk of change, however: a bundle including camera and smart lock costs $250. It’s available for preorder now. When Amazon Key launches on November 8, it’ll be available in 37 cities, which you can see here. You’ll also need a Prime subscription ($100/year) to use Key.

Although Amazon Key seems on some levels to be dystopian–after all, you’re letting strangers unlock your house–it will help solve both the issue of delayed deliveries due to the customer not being home, and the more serious problem of package theft. You can read more about the service over at Amazon’s website.
