E3 Gets A New Logo For 2018, See It Here

This year’s E3 will have a new logo, organisers have announced, while sales for exhibitors are now on sale. The new logo orients the E and the 3 horizontally, compared to the E3 2017 logo that had the E and the 3 stacked on top of each other.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which organises E3 every year, said in a statement that the new logo has a “familiar color scheme, but the design is updated for sharper performance on modern digital applications.”

E3 2018 runs June 12-14 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The ESA said it expects E3 2018 to exceed the numbers that E3 2017 did for the number of exhibitors and games on show. More than 300 exhibitors attended E3 2017, showing off 2,000 products.

More than 68,400 people attended E3 2017, which included 15,000 public tickets that were sold this year for the first time in the event’s history. E3 will stay at the LACC through 2019, but it remains to be seen what will happen after that.

Potential E3 exhibitors can inquire about securing a space by visiting the Exhibit Sales page on the official E3 website–www.E3Expo.com.

Overwatch Passes 35 Million Players, Halloween Event Happening Now

Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch has passed another major player milestone. The developer announced on Twitter today that the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC shooter has now tallied 35 million players since the game launched in May 2016.

The developer did not specify, but it seems likely that this figure covers the number of registered players across all platforms. Whatever the case, the game is growing, as the number of registered players stood at 30 million at the end of April. Overwatch reached 20 million registered players by November 2016, hitting that figure faster than any game in Blizzard’s history.

We have followed up with Blizzard in an attempt to get further details about Overwatch’s playerbase, specifically, how many of those 35 million are active players. The figure more than likely counts players during free weekends, so the game surely has not sold that many copies. Still, it is a very large number.

Overwatch is currently celebrating Halloween with an event called Halloween Terror. There are many new Halloween skins to collect through Loot Boxes, which you can earn through gameplay or by spending real money. Additionally, the Junkenstein’s Revenge mode has made a return; this co-op, Horde-style mode has players facing off against waves of AI-controlled enemies. A new endless option this year allows you to see just how many waves your team of four can make it through. Halloween Terror 2017 runs through November 2.

In other news, one analyst firm recently downgraded Overwatch publisher Activision Blizzard’s stock rating due to, among other things, worries that the Overwatch League won’t make as much money as some investors think.

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Update Out Now, Here Are The Patch Notes

Capcom has rolled out a new patch for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The update arrives ahead of the game’s new DLC and makes a number of bug fixes and adjustments to certain characters.

The new patch is available today, October 16, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though some of the changes it makes won’t go live on Microsoft’s console until “a later date.” Most of these primarily address bugs and other issues, including one that would cause a connection error when “continuously performing success grabs in an online match.” A number of character-specific bug fixes have also been made to Dante, Captain America, Dormammu, and Doctor Strange, which have gone live on all platforms.

You can find the patch notes, taken from the Capcom Unity blog, below. On October 17, Capcom is releasing Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s first three DLC characters: Black Panther, Sigma, and Monster Hunter. Each will be available individually for $8, while those who’ve purchased the game’s 2017 Character Pass will get them at no additional cost.

Also available tomorrow are 18 new premium DLC costumes for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The outfits will be available individually for $4 or as part of three different themed bundles, each of which contains six costumes and costs $12. Capcom will also offer a $30 Premium Costume Pass that gets you all 18 premium outfits plus the remaining ones that will be released later this year.

A Hat in Time Review

Disclosure: IGN Entertainment, IGN’s parent company, recently purchased Humble Bundle, the publisher of A Hat in Time. This technically makes us the publisher. (We didn’t actually know about that when this review was being written.) Humble Bundle and IGN operate completely independently, but going forward, all Humble Bundle-published games we cover will have a disclosure regarding our relationship, and we will endeavor to use freelance critics to review them when possible.

There’s a mafioso floating outside Hat Girl’s pillow-stuffed spaceship, miles above the planet below, decked out in a blue blazer and an apron that says “Kiss the Cook.” He probably should have been a lawyer, judging by how he chooses to interpret the situation.

Star Wars Rebels: “Heroes of Mandalore Part 2” Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

Just a quick note to start things off – Disney XD aired both parts of the Star Wars Rebels Season 4 premiere tonight. Eric Goldman already reviewed “Heroes of Mandalore Part 1” when it was screened at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, so tonight I’ll just be focusing on Part 2.

For whatever flaws it may have, Star Wars Rebels has been great about tying up the many loose ends left over from Clone Wars. We’ve seen Captain Rex evolve from loyal Republic soldier to independent freedom fighter. We’ve seen Darth Maul’s story finally receive the closure it needed. And we’ve seen the fate of Mandalore in the time of Emperor Palpatine and his Empire. It hasn’t been pretty, but the show consistently found success in Season 3 when it came to fleshing out Sabine’s troubled background and the chaotic, war-torn state of Mandalore. Nothing has changed as Rebels begins its fourth and final season.
