Plenty Of Cheap Switch And 3DS Games Discounted Right Now In Nintendo UK Sale
If you hadn’t noticed, it is no longer 2017. And you know what that means: cheap video games! To celebrate the new year, Nintendo UK is discounting a number of Eshop titles on both Switch and 3DS.
Some big Switch games are included in the Happy New Year sale, including Nintendo’s fighting game, Arms, which is 20% off at £40. 1-2-Switch, meanwhile, is down to £28–a 30% reduction on the standard Eshop price. More Switch games on offer include NBA 2K18 (£35.74), Flip Wars (£6.29), LA Noire (£33.74), WWE 2K18 (£33), and SteamWorld Dig 2 (£11). Plenty more titles are discounted in the sale; take a look at the full list here.
On 3DS, the games on offer include Metroid: Samus Returns (£28), Super Mario Maker (£24.49), Mario Kart 7 (£28), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (£11.19), and Super Smash Bros. (£28). Check out the rest of the discounted 3DS games–as well as some cheap Wii U titles–here.
The New Year sale comes as the Eshop adds five new Switch games. This week’s new titles are King of the Monsters, Stikbold: A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe, Pic-a-Pix Deluxe, Grand Prix Rock ‘N Racing, and Azkend 2: The World Beneath. Nintendo has also announced that the Switch is the best-selling games console ever in the US during the first 10 months on sale. This means the hybrid device has surpassed the previous record holder, the Wii.

Microsoft Announces Glow-in-the-Dark Xbox One Controller
Microsoft has announced a tie-in accessory for upcoming pirate-themed action-adventure game Sea of Thieves, with a deep purple, glow-in-the-dark Xbox One controller, available as of next month.
Featuring a “translucent design” and “laser-etched barnacles”, the controller also has its own hidden treasure in the form of one single golden trigger (it’s the right trigger, if you’re wondering) as well as a nautical design on the rear of the controller. The front face of the controller has as its centrepiece a glow-in-the-dark skull wearing an eyepatch, and continuing with the nautical theme, the left control stick has the appearance of a compass.

IGN UK Podcast #416: Kung Fu Kenny’s Black Mirror
It’s the new year, so of course we start by trying to discuss shiny new things like Black Mirror and Bright, but we just can’t help ourselves falling into talking about Jonathan Creek, Football Manager and, yes, The Prestige. Whoops.
But we’ve also got a round-up of the games we caught up on over Christmas, the maddest film of last year, plus there’s a recipe for a chicken meal at the very end for some reason.

Amazon Officially Shuts Down Anime Strike
After launching Anime Strike less than a year ago, Amazon has shut down its anime-specific streaming channel.
The company has also shut down Heera, its Bollywood-focused channel. “We have decided to move the curated catalogs of Anime Strike and Heera into Prime Video so that more customers can enjoy this content as part of their Prime membership,” a spokesperson from Amazon told Forbes.
As such, Amazon’s catalog of streaming anime, which previously required both a Prime membership and a $5 per month Anime Strike subscription, is now available to all Prime members. Since the launch of Anime Strike on January 12 of last year, Amazon received a fair amount of criticism from anime fans for its double paywall.

Here’s What Monster Hunter World’s First Free DLC Includes
Capcom has indicated on a number of occasions that it will support Monster Hunter World with free post-release downloadable content. That includes the addition of new monsters to hunt, the first of which we now have some details about.
With World’s release coming up in a few weeks, Capcom reiterated today that it has plans for “regular content updates, as well as major title updates for free.” What it describes as the “first major title update” will launch at some point this spring. It introduces the Deviljho to the game, a monster we’ve seen in a number of previous entries that will feature some differences in World.
“The Deviljho must feed constantly and will devour anything in its way, even feeding on the largest of monsters with its massive jowls,” Capcom explained. “This wild beast really is one for only the bravest of hunters to take on.”
It’s unclear if the Deviljho will be the only thing included in the update or how often we’ll see new DLC packs released. Free DLC for the recent Monster Hunter entries on 3DS, such as Generations, have often consisted of gear based on crossovers with other game franchises–such as Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Fire Emblem, and Devil May Cry–along with bonus resources and items. In addition to PS4-exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn gear, we know Mega Man-themed equipment is also on the way to World.
Monster Hunter World releases for PS4 and Xbox One on January 26, followed by a PC version this fall. A final PS4 beta has just been announced alongside the release of a new trailer showcasing some of World’s Elder Dragons.
