Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: New King K. Rool And Chrom Gameplay Videos

Nintendo kicked off its Gamescom 2018 reveals with two new gameplay clips of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the upcoming Nintendo Switch installment of the beloved fighting series. The company shared two full matches recorded by the development team, both of which feature a couple of the new fighters announced during this month’s Smash-themed Nintendo Direct.

The first clip, which you can watch above, shows a one-on-one Stock battle between returning fighter Snake and newcomer King K. Rool, appropriately set on the Kongo Falls stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee. The video gives fans a closer look at the villainous croc’s signature moves; you can see him firing a large cannonball from his blunderbuss and throwing his crown like a boomerang. The battle ends with King K. Rool’s Final Smash, which has him firing a devastating beam from his floating fortress to score the last knockout.

The second match, embedded below, is a two-on-two bout showing off Fire Emblem heroes Lucina and Chrom against Metroid villains Ridley and Dark Samus. As revealed during the Smash Direct, Chrom and Dark Samus are both Echo Fighters–clones of other characters already on the roster. Dark Samus is largely similar to Samus, albeit with floatier movement, while Chrom is based primarily on Roy, who was originally a modified version of Marth.

The second match also provides another look at Ultimate’s new Stage Morph feature. When toggled on, it causes one stage to transform into another in the middle of a battle. In the above video, the match begins on the Fire Emblem stage Arena Ferox before transitioning to Brinstar. In the final game, players will be able to select which two stages they want to battle on when Stage Morph is enabled.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for Switch on December 7. The game features the largest selection of fighters and stages in the series’ history, with more than 70 announced fighters and 103 different stages. Nintendo teases there are still a “few” more characters to be announced ahead of the game’s release. You can read more about the title in our roundup of everything we know about Smash Bros. Ultimate.

James Bond Loses Next Movie’s Director Danny Boyle Over “Creative Differences”

The next 007 movie, currently titled Bond 25, just lost its director, Danny Boyle. The film set to release in November 2019 has parted ways with the director due to creative differences.

The official James Bond Twitter account broke the news to fans on Tuesday afternoon saying, “Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.”

Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) signed on for the job back in March. “We’ve got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment,” the director told Metro.us. “And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”

However, five months later, Boyle has parted ways with the Bond franchise. Both Wilson and Broccoli serve as producers on the upcoming film, and Daniel Craig will be returning as James Bond for the fifth time since taking on the iconic role in 2006’s Casino Royale.

Fans weren’t expecting Craig to reprise the role of Bond, especially after he said he’d rather “slash his wrists” than play the character again, in 2015. On the August 15 episode of The Late Show, Craig confirmed he’d be playing the iconic secret agent one more time. It is expected that this will be Craig’s final time playing James Bond. Prior to that, producers were reportedly eyeing Idris Elba to play the role.

Since Craig has come aboard, the 007 series has been a smashing success globally. Casino Royale took in almost $600 million worldwide and 2015’s Spectre made $880 million. The biggest success from Craig’s run was 2012’s Skyfall which grossed $1.1 billion across the globe. Boyle may be gone, but the 007-train isn’t going anywhere.

Pokemon Go Adds Six New Shiny Pokemon, Here’s Which Ones

Six new shiny Pokemon have just been added to Pokemon Go. In celebration of the mobile game’s limited-time Johto Festival event, which increases the spawn rate of all Johto exclusive Pokemon, the six additions are all part of the Gen 2 Pokedex.

In a tweet, Pokemon Go revealed both shiny Natu and Sunkern had been added, while hinting there might be more than just the two. It’s since been revealed that the third shiny addition is Pineco, and that all three Pokemon evolve into shiny versions of Xatu, Sunflora, and Forretress respectfully.

Shiny Pokemon have long been sought after for their rarity. They can most easily be identified by their alternative color scheme, but Pokemon Go adds a small sparkle animation to the capture screen so you’ll know when they first appear. Shiny Natu has yellow wings and feet. Surprisingly, shiny Sunkern is a darker and less vibrant yellow than its non-shiny counterpart. Shiny Pineco has the most noticeable transformation, changing the dark green pinecone Pokemon into a yellowish orange.

The Johto Festival also includes a new Special Research quest to Pokemon Go that allows players to catch the legendary Celebi. New Johto-inspired avatar items have also been added.

Pokemon Go is available on both iOS and Android devices. Nintendo Switch exclusive Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! features gameplay that borrows mechanically from Pokemon Go, and is scheduled to release on November 16.

Veronica Mars Revival In The Works At Hulu–Report

It’s happening! Finally! Veronica Mars isn’t so dead, after all. A revival of the former UPN and CW series is in the world at Hulu. Thankfully, the project already has creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell signed on.

The news comes from Entertainment Weekly, which reports that parts of the deal have yet to be finalized, though negotiations between streaming service Hulu and Warner Bros. TV have been ongoing for months. The important thing to note is that, however the deal for the revival is structured, Bell will be allowed to appear on the show, as well as NBC’s The Good Place.

The original series centered on teen detective Veronica Mars as she solved various crimes and mysteries in her hometown. It ran for two seasons on UPN, before the network merged with The WB to create The CW. Mars then aired one final season on the new network.

Absolutely nothing else about the revival is known at this point, including when it might air and what other cast would come back. Of course, the hope is that just about everyone imaginable would return to the fictional town of Neptune for the revival.

Bell last played Mars in a 2014 follow-up film that saw most of her co-stars join her on the big screen, including Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Tina Majorino, Chris Lowell, Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, Percy Daggs II, and many more.

After the film, Thomas collaborated with writer Jennifer Graham on two novels released in 2015 and 2015. Currently, the creator is working on the final season of The CW’s iZombie, a show that has seen multiple Veronica Mars stars appear.
