What’s New To Netflix In October 2019? Movies, TV Shows, And Originals

It’s time for a month of haunts and spooky things to watch. October is right around the corner, and we’ve already seen what Amazon Prime Video has planned, and now, Netflix has revealed what’s coming to its service in the upcoming month. It’s 31 days of plenty of new Netflix Originals, and sadly, not a lot of horror. However, there are two huge originals coming you’ll want to watch.

On October 11, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie arrives. The Netflix original movie takes place after the series finale of AMC’s Breaking Bad, where Jesse Pinkman is on the run from the police. Series creator Vince Gilligan returns to write and direct this upcoming movie, and while there hasn’t been a lot of information released about the show, Netflix has released an announcement teaser, which you can see below.

The other series to look out for is Season 3 of Big Mouth. The adult animated series follows middle schoolers going through puberty, and the show comically explores growing up, relationships, sex, and everything in between. It is easily one of the funniest series on Netflix and is worth checking out. A new, very NSFW trailer was released, and one of the highlights is the cast of Queer Eye coming to the aid of Coach Steve.

There are plenty of movies and TV series leaving Netflix in October as well, so it’s your last chance to check them out. On October 1, the classic ’80s flick Gremlins will be removed, so you may want to watch it one more time just to see a bunch of Mogwai’s eat fried chicken after midnight. However, there is more Gremlins on the way coming to HBO Max, but no release date has been revealed. Empire Records, Cloverfield, and Season 1 of Impractical Jokers all leave Netflix on October 1 as well.

Below, you’ll everything coming and going from Netflix in October, and make sure to check out what’s still landing on the service for the rest of September.

Pokemon Go: How To Get Unova Stones And Evolve Gen 5 Pokemon

The first wave of Gen 5 Pokemon have officially invaded Pokemon Go. Players around the world can now catch a handful of monsters originally from the Unova region in Pokemon Black and White versions, and to coincide with their arrival, Niantic has also introduced a new evolutionary item to the game called the Unova Stone.

Similar to the Sinnoh Stone that debuted earlier this year, the Unova Stone is used to evolve certain Pokemon from its respective region, making it a valuable item to have. However, getting your hands on one will require quite a bit of work. If you’re unsure of how to obtain one, we break down how to get an Unova Stone and which Pokemon require it to evolve below.

How To Get Unova Stones

At present, the only known way to get an Unova Stone in Pokemon Go is by achieving a Research Breakthrough, which is tied to how many Field Research tasks you complete. As a refresher, you can obtain Field Research tasks by spinning the Photo Disc at Poke Stops. The first task you clear each day will reward you with a stamp, and once you’ve collected seven stamps, you’ll achieve a Research Breakthrough and earn a handful of items–including potentially an Unova Stone. However, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get the stone, so you may need to achieve a few Breakthroughs before you finally obtain one.

Which Pokemon Evolve Using Unova Stones?

Only a handful of Gen 5 Pokemon are currently available in Pokemon Go, and among them, four require an Unova Stone–as well as a number of Candies–to evolve. That includes the three elemental monkeys Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour, each of which is currently exclusive to certain regions. You can see the full list of Pokemon that require an Unova Stone to evolve below:

  • Lampent -> Chandelure
  • Pansage -> Simisage
  • Pansear -> Simisear
  • Panpour -> Simipour

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Open Beta Starts Next Week

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint launches in October, but you can jump in to an open beta a little sooner than that. Ubisoft has announced that the beta will run from September 26-29 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The beta will be staggered between platforms, but the times themselves are synced up globally so you can play with other ghosts across the world. Ubisoft also said this open beta will take into account some of the feedback from the recent closed beta, with a blog that details the exact improvements forthcoming.

The open beta will include your first look at the Ghost War PvP, with only Elimination Mode open for the test. It will consist of four maps: Skell Port, PMC Camp, Cold War Bunker, and Deserted Harbor.

In the PvE mode, you’ll have access to two new regions that weren’t available in the closed beta–New Argyll and Infinity–for a total of six. You’ll also be able to play five missions in total, three of which are new from the closed beta: Back to Basics, Skell on the Move, and The Enemy of My Enemy. The skill-testing Drone Areas are back from the closed beta as well.

Ubisoft notes that your progress from the beta won’t transfer to the main game. This will be the first major release in Ubisoft’s Uplay+ subscription, which gives you unlimited access to new Ubisoft releases. If you’re a subscriber as of October 1, you’ll get early access to the Breakpoint Ultimate Edition. The studio also recently revealed Breakpoint’s PC specs.
