Fortnite Update 5.40’s Patch Notes: Suppressed Assault Rifle Added, Drum Gun Vaulted
Epic Games has released the patch notes for Fortnite‘s 5.40 content update, confirming everything that is being tweaked, changed, and added to the game’s Battle Royale and Save the World modes on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The most notable part of the update is the introduction of the Suppressed Assault Rifle.
The new Suppressed Assault Rifle will let Battle Royale players take out enemies quietly. On Epic’s official Fortnite website, the weapon is said to reward precision over rapid fire. It can be found in Vending Machines, floor loot, Treasure Chests, and Supply Drops, and is also available in Epic and Legendary variants. If you manage to score one of these versions, you’ll do 32/33 damage per shot.
To make way for the Suppressed Assault Rifle, the Drum Gun has been vaulted, which means it is no longer available to use.
In Save the World, meanwhile, Field Agent Rio joins the battle, and there’s also a new set of Weekly Horde Challenges. For these, shields are considerably less useful as Husks are more aggressive. Earlier today Epic launched a separate client update for Fortnite which addressed a number of unspecified issues. The downtime started at 11 PM PT (2 AM ET / 7 AM BST on September 11) and finished an hour later, providing minimal disruption for players.
This week will also see the launch of Fortnite’s Week 10 challenges, barring any unforeseen delays. This will be the last batch of weekly challenges for Season 5, so if you haven’t done previous week’s challenges, you don’t have much longer left to complete them. After Clayne Crawford was let go following allegations of on-set bad behavior last season, the popular action series tapped American Pie star Seann William Scott to fill the void left by Riggs and take over the job of driving Damon Wayans’ Murtaugh crazy. Scott is playing Detective Wesley Cole, a former international CIA operative who has recently relocated to Los Angeles to be closer to his family.
Patient Zero Review
Patient Zero is now on Digital and VOD and in theaters September 14.
Patient Zero is an anomaly. Its premise has all of the required ingredients to produce something novel. This includes a fresh take on its villains, a competent director in Stefan Ruzowitzky and a decent cast. Yet somehow, all of these attributes fail at helping Patient Zero live up to its potential.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Patient Zero details humanity’s last efforts at combating a new form of rabies. Scientists work around the clock to find a cure in an underground bunker while remnants of the US military provide protection. Infected individuals are kept in cages, only removed to be used as test subjects. This comes to the dismay of Colonel Knox (Clive Standen) who feels that the tests are a waste of time. He doesn’t think they’ll ever find a cure and is hesitant to risk the lives of his men on missions to acquire more specimens. Opposing him is Dr. Gina Rose (Natalie Dormer) and Morgan (Matt Smith), a CDC virologist and the only human who didn’t “turn” after being bitten. They both look to the infected as the key to their survival. Rose believes that she can derive a cure using Morgan’s blood and the original virus strain, the source of which is the first known carrier, aka patient zero. Morgan’s ability to communicate with the infected helps in this regard; they hope that his interrogations will yield information about patient zero’s whereabouts.
Alan Wake Is Becoming a TV Show
Alan Wake still isn’t getting the video game sequel that fans have spent years pining for, but Remedy Entertainment’s paranormal adventure franchise will continue via another medium.
Variety reports today that a live-action Alan Wake television series is in the works, with Cloak and Dagger and Legion’s Peter Calloway on board as showrunner and writer. The show will be executive produced by Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake, who created Alan Wake. Contradiction Films has partnered with Remedy to produce the show, but doesn’t yet have a studio attached. The plan is to start pitching it in October once Calloway has finalized the details.
