Bungie Addresses the ‘State of Destiny 2’ in Blog Post

Bungie replaced a planned livestream today with a blog post from the Destiny development team addressing the game and where it stands with the Destiny 2 community.

The team said it’s been reading, and taking to heart, feedback on improving the experience, as well as “tough criticism about our lack of communication.”

“We agree we need to be more open,” the post reads. “We want Destiny to be a game that fits into your life.”

Further into the post, Bungie outlines its plans and improvements for both a December 5 and December 12 update, showing off things like Masterworks weapons.

Masterworks are Legendary weapons that have been upgraded. They also drop, and have advantages over Legendaries such as the ability to “track and display the number of kills with that weapon.”

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Christmas Event Begins Soon

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is getting a makeover for the holidays. Nintendo announced today that the mobile game will feature a limited-time event that’ll let you decorate your camp for the holidays.

In a post on Twitter, the official Japanese Animal Crossing account announced the event, stating that it would begin tomorrow, November 30. The English account later confirmed the event. It was also revealed that players will be able to purchase some themed furniture. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:

In my opinion, it’s nice to see temporary events coming to Pocket Camp. The holiday events were some of my favorite moments in previous Animal Crossing games, and it’s good that Pocket Camp is continuing the tradition.

Pocket Camp has been out for a week now, and it’s already been downloaded a lot of times. It features some of what you’d expect from an Animal Crossing game–such as interior design and dealing with Tom Nook– but it’s also a smaller-scope experience. This has led some fans, such as model Chrissy Teigen, to criticize the game for not being built out enough.

First Project CARS 2 Expansion Coming Soon

Project CARS 2 publisher Bandai Namco has announced the first expansion pack for Slightly Mad Studio’s top-notch racing sim. Dubbed the Fun Pack, the expansion will feature eight new cars and two new circuits.

Most of the content is rallycross-themed for this pack, including both of the new tracks. Expect a retro version of Brand Hatch Rallycross (home of the much-loved British Rallycross Grand Prix of the ’80s and ’90s) and Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross track (which will host the opening round of the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship).

The first gameplay for PUBG‘s new desert map will be shown during The Game Awards on the evening of Thursday, December 7, organiser Geoff Keighley has revealed.

It will be a live gameplay demonstration, Keighley said on Twitter. It’s a pretty big get for The Game Awards, as PUBG is one of the biggest games on the planet, and seeing the new map in action for the first time is a big deal for fans of the game.

We have seen numerous images of PUBG’s desert map, but this will be the first gameplay reveal. Compared to the current map, the desert location looks desolate, open, and more flat, filled with ruins and low-lying buildings. Take a look in the gallery above.

There’s still no word on when the new map will arrive, but it’ll likely be after PUBG officially launches on PC in late December. PUBG is also slated to be released on Xbox One in Early Access on December 12.

The Game Awards are expected to bring a number of announcements and other reveals. Additionally, we’ll learn which game wins Game of the Year and more. You can see a list of nominees for Game of the Year and all the other categories here.

This Physical Destiny Ghost Talks To You While You Play

Activision is teaming up with Amazon for a pretty cool new Destiny 2 gadget. This $90 physical Ghost connects to Amazon’s Alexa device so you can talk to it to equip weapons and learn more about quests, among other things. It’s basically the game’s Ghost coming to life, which is cool and possibly a little unsettling at the same time.

For example, you can say, “Alexa, ask Ghost what I should do next” and it’ll tell you what to do. You can also say, “Alexa, ask Ghost to equip my most powerful weapon,” and then it will do that for you. There are apparently over 1,000 custom voice commands that are supported. Pretty neat. You can see a further rundown of what you can say to Alexa in the text below, which comes from the device’s Amazon product page (via RollingStone).

The Destiny 2 physical Ghost is compatible with all version of the game (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC), and apparently releases in December. Go to the device’s product page on Amazon to learn more and order one for yourself, if it sounds good to you.

In other Destiny news, Bungie today admitted that it “betrayed” players by failing to disclose certain elements about XP and levelling in Destiny 2. Additionally, the developer outlined some of the changes coming to Destiny in December including a new Masterworks weapon class.

Destiny 2 Physical Ghost Includes:

  • EXPLORE THE DESTINY 2 UNIVERSE: Ask and receive custom dialogue lines that will expand your knowledge of the Destiny 2’s worlds and characters you’ll encounter on your journey.
    • Try saying: “Alexa, ask Ghost who are the Red Legion.”
  • FIND OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT: Based on your progress inside the game, you’ll receive unique recommendations for things to do inside the massive world of Destiny 2 in real time.
    • Try saying: “Alexa, ask Ghost what I should do next.”
  • MANAGE YOUR ARSENAL: Equip your most powerful weapons or entire loadouts with a simple voice command.
    • Try saying: “Alexa, ask Ghost to equip my most powerful weapon.”
  • CONNECT WITH FRIENDS: Send messages to friends, find out who’s online and ready to play, and stay on top of Clan progress without having to turn on your PS4, Xbox One or PC.
    • Try saying: “Alexa, ask Ghost to call for backup”
  • AND MUCH MORE: Over 1000 custom lines to discover.

Vikings: Season 5 Premiere Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

If you’d like to check out my interview with WWE Hall of Famer Edge about his new role on Vikings (he’ll debut in the December 20th episode), click here.

Vikings roared back to TV with a double-episode premiere that saw Lagertha face down her would-be-usurper Harald Finehair – and then make the mistake of allowing him to live, so that he could then escape and swipe Astrid from Kattegat.

Now, I actually enjoyed Lagertha’s choice to let Harald live, as I also actually believed Harald when he said he was done going after the throne since he’d, you know, murdered the woman he’d been trying to woo and impress. But I should have known there was a double cross coming since Harald had volunteered to be the one to go back to Kattegat in the first place. He wouldn’t have done that if he had no interest in the crown, and in seeing a possibly overthrown Kattegat waiting for him. That’s on me.

Sword of Ages #1 Review

As much as IDW may focus on big properties like TMNT, Ghostbusters and the Hasbroverse, they’ve also published their fair share of great creator-owned comics to boot. None made a bigger splash than Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s Locke & Key. Now one half of that team is back with a brand new space fantasy series. Sword of Ages may try to cover far too much ground in its first issue, but you have to admire the passion Rodriguez is bringing to the table on this one.

Sword of Ages draws from a number of different influences (everything from Tarzan to the works of Moebius to the Dune books), but it doesn’t feel particularly beholden to any one property. Rodriguez has clearly put a lot of thought into this vast universe, from the races and cultures that inhabit it to the politics and religion. That really comes across in this densely packed first issue, as Rodriguez traces the early hero’s journey of main protagonist Avalon. All the trappings of an epic, fantastical adventure are in place by the end.
