Nintendo Switch Beats Wii U Lifetime Sales in Japan

The Nintendo Switch has now sold more units in Japan than the Wii U did in its lifetime.

As reported by Famitsu (and spotted by Twitter’s Nibel), the Switch’s latest sales data puts it at 3,407,158 to the Wii U’s 3,301,555.

The Switch has been available for just over 10 months – the Wii U has been on sale for a little over 5 years. Japanese buyers have preferred handheld experiences in recent years, which perhaps explains Switch’s sales dominance over its predecessor.

The hybrid console has already proven itself to be a move in the right direction for Nintendo, and is expected to surpass Wii U’s global lifetime sales this year. In December, Nintendo said Switch had topped 10 million units worldwide – Nintendo reports that Wii U sold 13.56 million.

PUBG Xbox One Update Out Now, Here’s What It Does

When PUBG first launched on Xbox One in December, some fans criticized it, saying it ran a lot less smoothly on Xbox than it did on PC. However, developer PUBG Corp. has stated it will continue to improve on its hit battle royale game, and as such it has now released another PUBG update.

This patch, like the Xbox One update that released just before Christmas, brings general “quality-of-life” improvements, as well as a few gameplay tweaks. The first of those is an increase in how much damage players can deal to vehicles–though PUBG Corp. says it will continue to monitor player feedback and adjust this as necessary in the future.

Elsewhere, the in-game options menu has added a new variable that lets you tweak aim acceleration, a change that will hopefully help players who have found PUBG more difficult to play with a controller than on PC‘s mouse and keyboard setup. You can also now turn music on or off via the same menu. Finally, PUBG Corp. says both server and player frame rates have been “slightly increased,” and a number of crashes have been addressed. Take a look at the full patch notes below, via PUBG Corp.

PUBG has been hugely successful to date, recently passing 3 million concurrent users on Steam alone. That milestone came after the game finally reached its full 1.0 release on PC. It has also been a hit on Xbox One, selling 1 million copies in its first 48 hours and more than 30 million across Xbox One and PC.

PUBG Corp. recently said it wants to bring the game to “every platform,” so a PlayStation 4 release could be on the cards. Additionally, the developer said it has spoken with Netflix and people in Hollywood about extending the game to new mediums. For more on the hit multiplayer game, check out our PUBG review.

Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition Release Date Is A Little Later For New Players In Europe And Australia

Capcom has detailed the precise release dates for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, revealing that those buying the game for the first time will get it a little later than players upgrading from the existing version.

The confirmed in a Twitter post that both the physical and digital versions of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be available to purchase on PlayStation 4 on January 19. However, if you already have Street Fighter V, you’ll be able to upgrade to Arcade Edition and begin playing from January 16.

The Steam release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, meanwhile, will also launch on January 16 regardless of whether you’re buying for the first time or upgrading. Capcom has not yet provided an exact time for when the Arcade Edition upgrade patch will be available or when it will go live on Steam yet.

Capcom has not indicated there will be a similarly staggered launch for Arcade Edition in the US. We have asked the company for confirmation and will update this story when it is provided.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is a new version of Capcom’s flagship fighting game that includes all the post-release content from Season 1 and Season 2 of the game, as well as a number of new gameplay changes. It will feature a total of 28 fighters, comprised of the original roster plus the DLC characters.

In terms of gameplay, Arcade Edition introduces a second V-Trigger for every character. This, according to Capcom, “will significantly change their playstyle.” Also being added is a new Arcade Mode “ripe with nostalgia,” an Extra Battle Mode, a gallery, and a redesigned user-interface. Top 10 UK Sales Chart – FIFA 18 Denies Call Of Duty: WW2 A Series Record

After reaching nine consecutive weeks at the top of the UK physical sales chart last week–the same number in a row as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reached after its 2009 launch–Call of Duty: WWII was one more No.1 away from breaking a series record. However, FIFA 18 starts the new year strongly at the chart’s summit, meaning the latest Call of Duty must settle for equaling the franchise record.

Below the perennially popular pair lies another long-term favorite, Grand Theft Auto V, which finishes in the top 40 for the 225th consecutive week, according to sales monitor GfK Chart-Track. The open-world game has never finished outside the top 40 since its original launch in 2013, and 85% of its placements have been in the top 10.

Elsewhere, the physical Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds re-enters the top 10 for the week ending January 6. It’s at No.7 this week, and recently passed 3 million concurrent users on PC.
