Man In Pikachu Costume Jumps White House Fence

This should serve as a warning: Not even Pokemon can evade the Secret Service. Curtis Combs, a 36-year-old man from Kentucky, was taken into custody by the Secret Service Tuesday, October 17, after he jumped a fence surrounding the White House.

While people trying to enter the White House grounds without approval is nothing new, CNN reports Combs stands out for attempting to do so while wearing a Pikachu costume. According to a police report, he jumped a concrete barrier on the south side of the presidential residence, after dropping a backpack and telling officers he was unarmed.

What would drive him to do such a thing? It turns out he was hoping video of the stunt would end up on YouTube, making him famous. Unfortunately for him, the chances of that happening are slim. After all, this isn’t the first time a Pikachu fan has landed in trouble for hopping a fence at the White House.

In 2014, a man wearing a Pikachu hat and shirt, carrying a stuffed toy of the Pokemon, did the exact same thing before sitting down on the lawn to be arrested. That video wound up on YouTube, though it did not go viral.

In the end, Combs pled not guilty to a charge of unlawful entry, CNN says. He will be in court to face the charge on November 9. In speaking to police after the incident, Combs told them he hoped to return at a later date to tour the White House with his son. Truthfully, that could be the beginning of a crazy viral marketing ploy for the Detective Pikachu movie.

Wheelman Review

Wheelman premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 20.

Frank Grillo gets behind the wheel of a car, and for most of Jeremy Rush’s Wheelman, he never leaves. But this isn’t another low budget, one-location character study like Steven Knight’s Locke. Wheelman is Locke with a Glock, a high-concept car chase action-thriller that takes place mostly inside of a getaway car, for better and sometimes worse.

The driver, known only as Wheelman (Grillo), is working a run-of-the-mill bank job when, right after his passengers start pulling the heist, he gets a mysterious phone call, ordering him to steal the money. The thieves are going to kill him, or so he’s been told, so he waits until the cash is in the trunk and then he takes off, no longer knowing who to trust.

The Snowman Review

The Norwegian detective Harry Hole (alright, alright, get that out of your system) is one of the most popular crimefighters in the modern era of mystery novels. But you wouldn’t know it by watching his first feature film. Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of the serial killer thriller The Snowman is a generic detective story that can’t even stand out against its own icy backdrops.

Michael Fassbender plays Harry Hole, a struggling alcoholic and famous Oslo detective with a supportive ex-girlfriend, Rakel (Charlotte Gainsbourg), her teenaged son Oleg (Michael Yates), and nothing else in his life. When a new investigator at the precinct, Katrine (Rebecca Ferguson), tells Harry that a series of disappearances may be connected, and might even be the work of a serial killer, Harry dives in. And when disembodied heads start popping up on the top of snowmen, he realizes he’s in deeper than he thought.
