Super Mario Odyssey’s Peach Amiibo Puts Mario In A Wedding Dress, Apparently

A line of Super Mario Odyssey-themed Amiibo figures was revealed back at E3 that features Mario, Peach, and Bowser each wearing their own wedding outfit. Nintendo had already provided some details on what they would unlock in-game, but now we have a better idea of what to expect from one of them.

YouTube channel FamilyGamerTV got their hands on the Peach and Mario Amiibo figures early. As noticed by Nintendo Daily News, the back of the box for the Peach figure reveals that it unlocks a wedding dress outfit for Mario himself. You can see a glimpse of this in the image below.

No Caption Provided

Nintendo’s official site states that scanning the Peach Amiibo provides a life-up heart and her wedding dress, but it was unclear that Mario himself would wear it. Mario’s figure, meanwhile, provides his wedding outfit and grants temporary invincibility. Bowser’s unlocks his wedding suit and reveals where coins are hidden in the region.

Other, existing Amiibo figures are also compatible with Super Mario Odyssey and will provide other, unspecified rewards, according to Nintendo’s site. It also states that all outfits can be unlocked without the corresponding Amiibo, so you won’t need to actually purchase the new figures to get the wedding attire.

Wearing different costumes is one of the charming aspects of Nintendo’s new platformer. We’ve already rounded up all of the Super Mario Odyssey costumes we’ve seen so far–and there are some excellent ones. There’s sure to be even more to uncover once the full game hits Nintendo Switch on October 27.

God of War Meets Shadow of the Colossus In Extinction

At a glance, it’s easy to draw connections to Extinction from things like Shadow of the Colossus and Attack on Titan. You climb and kill giant ogres that are sieging cities hiding behind high but ineffective walls. But when I actually got my hands on its first few missions, Extinction played closer to games like God of War, with lightning fast, combo-filled combat that’s surprisingly deep.

Each mission in Extinction puts you in charge of protecting a city from waves of demons, trying to save as many people and buildings as you can. While ogres may be the main course, there are also hordes of smaller enemies terrorizing citizens on a more personal level.

  • Raiden Flux (Hunter Class Chest Armor): 23 Legendary Shards
  • Doom Fang Pauldron (Gauntlets): 23 Legendary Shards
  • Winter’s Guile (Warlock Class Gauntlets): 23 Legendary Shards

Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine events have been canceled for the next two weeks due to an issue with an emote bug. This is the same bug that caused the high-stepping Monty Python emote to be removed from the in-game store. Developer Bungie has said there’s a fix in the works, and that the two week period without Trials of the Nine will allow the studio to test it out and prevent any exploitation of the competitive mode in the meantime.

Following Destiny 2‘s launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September, the shooter comes to PC on October 24. Bungie has detailed a roadmap for the rollout of endgame activities in the PC version. At launch, players will be able to try the normal or Prestige Nightfall Strikes. A week later, the Raid will go live. For more on Destiny 2, take a look at the list of recent stories below.

EA Responds To Battlefront 2 Pay-To-Win Concerns; Switch Adds Huge Features! – GS News

GameSpot News with Jess McDonell and Dan Crowd brings you the video game news that matters. At least, for the previous 24-hour period. Except today, because Chastity Vicencio and Kallie Plagge are filling in. But they will also give you the news that matters.

New Star Wars Battlefront II Story Trailer; EA Comments On Pay-To-Win Concerns

The new trailer showcases some of what we can expect from Battlefront II’s single player campaign. There are some glimpses of space battles and a chase with the Millennium Falcon. We also see appearances by Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Maz Kanata.

Aside from the single-player campaign, a lot of discussion surrounding the game has focused on its microtransactions. It will use a loot box-style system for unlocking various upgrades, leading to some fans accusing the system of being “pay-to-win.” In an interview with GameSpot, EA said people’s fears are “understandable,” at the same time as calling the accusations “hard to dodge.”

Big Nintendo Switch Update Released, Adds Nice New Features

Nintendo Switch just got a very big update that adds gameplay capture, save data transfer, and more. With the 4.0 update applied, you’ll be able to hold down the capture button and record the previous 30 seconds of gameplay. This currently only works with certain games, including Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Arms, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The other major new feature is the ability to transfer save data to a new Switch, similar to how it works with 3DSes.

Mario Kart 8 Switch Update Out Now, Adds Video Capture And Adjusts Blue Shell

Related to Switch updates, there’s a new one out for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that enables the aforementioned gameplay capture feature and tweaks the way the dreaded Blue Shell works. With the update, the Blue Shell will no longer target the second-place player if the first-place player hasn’t yet crossed the finish line.

And that’s it for today’s news! Kallie and Chastity will be back tomorrow with the top five stories of the week.
