Mafia: Definitive Edition: Here’s How And Why They Recast Tommy Angelo For The Remake

Mafia: Definitive Edition will feature an all-new cast when it releases on August 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In English language territories, Tommy will be played by Italian-Australian actor Andrew Bongiorno, who also serves as the likeness for the character and performed motion capture for the role.

In a new post on the Mafia website, developer Hanger 13 has discussed the casting process for this remake. The remake is extensive enough that they did not want to reuse the original audio from the 2002 Mafia, and according to Hanger 13 president Haden Blackman, they wanted to ensure that they made use of new technologies for this release. “Since our cinematics rely heavily on motion capture data, it was essential that we have both voice and physical performances,” he says. “We looked for actors who not only sounded the part, but also looked the part and could perform on both the motion capture stage and in the VO booth.”

While producer Nicole Sandoval initially looked into whether they could reuse the original actors, it ultimately was not viable. “No one’s voice stays the same, especially after such a long period of time,” she says. The team decided that building up an ensemble cast would be important, especially since a major theme of Mafia–and most mob media–is the concept of family.

Will Smith’s New Movie Sells To Apple For $120 Million

Apple has purchased yet another big movie, and they’re paying a huge fee for it. Deadline reports that the iPhone company has purchased Will Smith’s new movie, Emancipation, for $120 million USD.

The site reported that seven different companies bid on Emancipation after it was put up for sale, with Warner Bros. and Apple finishing as the final two serious candidates before Apple won out.

Emancipation stars Will Smith as a runaway slave from Louisiana who embarks on a perilous journey to the North while he’s tracked down by “cold-blooded hunters.” The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who made the Oscar-winning 2001 crime drama Training Day starring Denzel Washington.

Worms Rumble Announced, Featuring Real-Time Combat And A Battle Royale Mode

Team 17 has announced a new Worms game to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before from the series. The game, Worms Rumble, is a real-time combat game for up to 32 players, with cross-play enabled. It will release for PC, PS5, and PS4.

Each player will control a single worm in either Team Deathmatch or Battle Royale (both solo and squad) combat, and will battle it out over huge, semi-destructable environments. The game will receive regular content updates to add new levels and worm customizations, and there’s a rank system to unlock cosmetics.

Weapons available at launch include the iconic Bazooka, Hand Cannon, Baseball Bat, Assault Rifle, and Shotgun. The trailer below also shows the Holy Hand Grenade making an appearance.

There will be seasonable events and challenges to take part in, too. You can register now to try the game’s closed beta, which will run from July 15 at 4 AM PT until July 20 at midnight PT, if you’re curious about how Worms will work in real-time.

In a statement sent to press, lead designer Adam Findlay called Worms Rumble “a significant rethink around the Worms experience,” and said that he hopes that the cross-play 32-player experience will “unite the community and newcomers to the series in wonderfully Worms-tastic mayhem.”

There is no mention of a potential Xbox or Nintendo Switch release, so console players will need a PlayStation 4 or 5 to jump in.

The last game in the Worms series was Worms: W.M.D., which was a more traditional turn-based Worms combat game. It received an 8/10 in GameSpot’s review, and reviewer Jason D’Aprile called it “easily the best game in the Worms series in several years.”

New Dead Cells “Update Of Plenty” Changes Crossbows, Adds Backpacks

Developer Evil Empire has released a new update for Dead Cells. Called the Update of Plenty, it implements notable changes to weapons, items, and the in-game economy. The full list of changes are detailed in the official patch notes.

In terms of weapons, Update of Plenty makes all crossbows into two-handed weapons. To increase a player’s willingness to try two-handed weapons, Update of Plenty also adds backpacks that allow you to hold onto an extra one-handed weapon that you can switch to in situations where your two-handed weapon might put you at a disadvantage.

When it comes to the in-game economy, Update of Plenty increases the amount of gold you can find and adjusts the pricing of gear at merchants so that you’ll be able to switch gear loadouts midway through a run without spending nearly all your money. This should be most helpful for late-game levels, as holding onto a bit of your money early on should make it easier to buy healing items in the endgame without scrounging for gold.

PSN Launches New PS4 Sale On Multiplayer Games Ahead Of Fourth Of July Weekend

As usual, the PlayStation Store has multiple sales running right now, including the bargain-focused Games Under $20 sale and Mid-Year Deals. While both of those are still live for another week, a new sale kicked off today. Multiplayer Days is, you guessed it, a sale focused on games you can play with friends and family such as Overcooked 2, A Way Out, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and several Lego games. The Multiplayer Days sale runs until July 16, so you have two weeks to browse for your next family game night activity.

The sale is particularly good for family-friendly games. You can nab the chaotic cooking simulator Overcooked 2 for $15 or get a bundle with Overcooked 2 and the original for $21. Overcooked’s spiritual successor Moving Out, which released earlier this year, is on sale for $17.49, too. Meanwhile, Lego games offer great local co-op for youngsters and parents, and you can snag Lego Marvel Collection for $18, a great price for a compilation featuring three games, and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens for $8.

For genuine party games, it’s hard to compete with Jackbox. The Jackbox Party Pack is down to $12.49, and Jackbox Party Pack 5 is discounted to $18. There are also more traditional digital board and card games on sale, including Uno for $5, Monopoly Family Fun Pack for $6, and Ticket to Ride for $6.
