Shovel Knight’s Music Gets Smooth And Jazzy In New “Prescription For Sleep” Album

Yet another popular video game is having its music transformed into soothing tunes to help you sleep, study, or just relax. The “Prescription for Sleep” lullaby series expands with a new album themed around Yacht Club Games’ side-scrolling platformer Shovel Knight due out on December 6.

The album, Prescription for Sleep: Shovel Knight, features calming, light, jazzy music performed by Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta composer Norihiko Hibino (saxophone) and PersonaQ’s Ayaki on piano. They form the group Gentle Love, which also contributed to the previous Prescription for Sleep albums.

This album is notable for being the first time that Yacht Club has collaborated with an outside company for a licensed arranged album. The album also includes music for the new expansion, King of Cards, which launches on December 10. If you want to hear music from the new expansion, the new Prescription for Sleep album is the only way to do so right now.

You can buy the Shovel Knight album through Bandcamp and other digital stores like Spotify, Tidal, and Apple Music. The producers at Scarlet Moon Records are also creating 1,000 physical CDs featuring a number of extras including liner notes, interviews, and comics. Go to the Bandcamp page to learn more.

There are 20 tracks in all on Shovel Knight: Prescription for Sleep. You can listen to a teaser for track six, “Of Devious Machinations,” in the embed above.

Other video games to have Prescription for Sleep albums have included Celeste and Undertale. Scarlet Moon also released an album titled “Prescription for Peace,” which is an tribute to the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and renowned Japanese musician Eiki Oshimi.

The Shovel Knight, Celeste, and Undertale Prescription for Sleep albums are marked down 20 percent on Cyber Monday.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind Will Get You Granular Difficulty Control And New Photo Modes

Kingdom Hearts III is due to receive a major piece of free DLC, called Re:Mind, before the end of February 2020. The new downloadable content will come with new playable characters, including Aqua, Roxas, and Riku, as well as new Keyblade transformations and fights. Now, thanks to one fan who attended the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra performance in Osaka, we have some more details about what the DLC will add.

These details, which were tweeted by a Twitter user called Melanie and then compiled by Eurogamer, are focused on some of the ephemera around the new playable content, including new difficulty options and photo modes. While the tweet below mentions a release new month, Melanie clarifies later in the thread that it might actually just be a trailer that’s being released in December, as a final release date cannot be nailed down just yet.

Photo mode lets you pose the characters from the game in any setting you want, adding props and changing backgrounds, which sounds like a lot of fun. Slideshow mode, apparently, will let you link photos together, complete with transitions and background music–what you’d expect from the name, basically.

Fast Pass Mode and “Black Code” both concern the game’s difficulty, with Fast Pass being designed to let you rip through the game as fast as possible. It lets you one-shot kill enemies and stack more attractions, so that battles end faster and you can play through the story quickly. Black Code gives you granular control over your difficulty, changing how much health you have and potentially making the game harder in numerous ways. Melanie does not have further details, as they apparently went by very fast.

Re:Mind will likely contain new boss encounters when it finally launches, and sounds substantial considering the fact that it’s free.

Frozen 2 Breaks Records And Knives Out Opens Strong: Thanksgiving 2019 Box Office Results

Frozen II opened last weekend to huge numbers, earning $127 million domestically and $350 million worldwide. The film has shown no signs of slowing down in its second weekend, posting record-breaking figures over the Thanksgiving break. It wasn’t the only film to find success this weekend, though, with Knives Out enjoying a huge opening, and Queen & Slim also turning in a respectable first weekend result.

Frozen II has broken the 3-day and 5-day records for Thanksgiving in its second weekend; according to Box Office Mojo, it made $85.2 million from Friday to Sunday and an enormous $123.7 million from Wednesday to Sunday. Frozen II has now made $738,573,344 worldwide, and is well on its way to topping $1 billion. The original Frozen made $1.27 billion over its run, and it’ll be interesting to see if Frozen II can top that. It will almost certainly retain the top spot next weekend too, with Playmobil: The Movie, the only wide release that will go up against it, having received terrible reviews.

In second place, Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson’s new film Knives Out enjoyed a huge opening. It pulled in $41.7 million over the five days, plus another $28.3 million internationally. With an estimated budget of around $40 million, fantastic word-of-mouth, and excellent reviews (we gave it a 9/10,) the film is likely to continue performing over the weeks ahead. 68% of the movie’s audience was aged over 25, suggesting that it played well as counter-programming to the younger-focused Frozen II.

The other new major release over Thanksgiving, Queen & Slim, brought in $15.8 million over the five days. The film, which stars Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) as “Slim” and Jodie Turner-Smith (The Neon Demon) as “Queen”, was written by Lena Waithe and made by first-time director Melina Matsoukas. It’s a strong debut for the low-budget romantic film, which sees a young couple going on the run after things go wrong on a first date.

Elsewhere in the charts, Ford v Ferrari made $19 million over three days, while A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as Mr Rogers, brought in $17.3 million in the same frame. Both films have held well since release. Charlie’s Angels, meanwhile, has dropped out of the top 10.

Here are the three-day box office figures for the weekend of November 29-December 1.

  1. Frozen II โ€” $85,250,000
  2. Knives Out โ€” $27,022,000
  3. Ford v Ferrari โ€” $13,221,000
  4. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood โ€” $11,800,000
  5. Queen & Slim โ€” $11,700,000
  6. 21 Bridges โ€” $5,820,000
  7. Playing with Fire โ€” $4,200,000
  8. Midway โ€” $3,957,000
  9. Joker โ€” $2,030,000
  10. Last Christmas โ€” $1,980,000

First James Bond: No Time To Die Trailer Coming This Week, Watch A High-Octane Teaser

The first trailer for the much-anticipated 25th James Bond movie, No Time To Die, is coming soon. Sony Pictures has announced that the action movie’s first trailer will arrive on Wednesday, December 3. “Bond is back,” the tweet says.

A teaser for the trailer shows everything you would expect from a Bond movie trailer: a moody-looking James Bond, cars flying through the air, gunfights, and one particularly incredible sequence that shows Bond on a motorcycle racing up a flight of stairs and launching over a barrier.

At around 10 seconds, a mysterious figure appears behind a glass door; their face is obscured. This could be a first look at Rami Malek’s villain character, but this is just speculation. The person appears to be wearing a mask, but it’s hard to say for sure.

No Time To Die picks up with Craig’s James Bond out of active service and living a peaceful life in Jamaica. Obviously, it doesn’t stay this way. “His old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology,” reads a line from the movie’s description.

No Time To Die is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who is best known for the first season of True Detective and the acclaimed drama Beasts of No Nation. Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Lรฉa Seydoux all return to the roles of M, Q, Miss MoneyPenny, and Madeleine Swan respectively. The new cast members include the previously mentioned Malek, as well as Billy Magnussen and Ana de Armas. Check out some on-set footage here.

Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge was hired to add humour to the No Time To Die script. The movie hits theatres in April 2020.

It is expected that it will be the final James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig in the lead role. As it happens, it’s rumoured that Captain Marvel actress Lashana Lynch is taking over the 007 title from Craig in No Time To Die but whether or not this continues in the expected Bond 26–which hasn’t been announced–remains to be seen.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Final DLC Fighter Arrives This Week

Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting the final fighter in its second Fighter Pass this week, with Broly (DBS) arriving on December 5 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The second character DLC pack has so far delivered new fighters Jiren, Videl, Goku (GT), Janemba, and Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, and the Dragon Ball Super iteration of Broly is the final character included. He will be available for everyone with the Fighter Pass, and for separate purchase, on December 5.

It’s not clear whether there will be a third Fighters Pass for the now nearly two-year-old fighting game; a total of 12 characters have been added since launch. You can check out Broly’s moves and techniques in the trailer below.

Broly has actually already come to the game as part of the first Fighter Pass, but this iteration is a slightly different take and design. It’s not unusual for Dragon Ball FighterZ to have multiple models of the same character, all with different move sets (Goku appears in four different iterations, not including fusions), but Broly is distinct because the Super version of the character is “canon” within the main series. The original Broly character introduced into the game only exists in the Dragon Ball Z movies, which are not considered canon. Dragon Ball Super: Broly presented a new take on the character and his backstory, and it’s from that film that this fighter’s moves and appearance have been pulled.

The next Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, will release on January 17, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Whereas FighterZ is a fighting game, Kakarot will be an action adventure.
