Amazing Spider-Man Sets the Stage for Greatness
While much of the focus of Nick Spencer’s first year on Amazing Spider-Man has involved the buildup to an ultimate culmination of “Hunted,” the series has also been teasing a brand new, very mysterious addition to Spidey’s rogues gallery. As Spencer gears up for Year 2, that villain is finally stepping out of the shadows and taking a more active role in tormenting Peter Parker. That, plus a heavy focus on Mysterio, is enough reason to check out issue #24.
Spencer mainly divides this standalone story on two fronts, exploring how the fallout of “Hunted” continues to affect Peter and using Mysterio as a means of setting the stage for this mystery villain’s big debut. The former is especially welcome as it helps bring the Peter/MJ relationship back to the forefront of the book. As great as it is having this romance back in action a decade after Brand New Day, it hasn’t necessarily received the attention it deserves. But now that the initial “honeymoon” phase has worn off, Peter finds himself at a crossroads. Can he allow himself to be with someone he loves and risk putting them in mortal danger, especially with the terrifying visions he’s been experiencing?

As reported by TheWrap, details for Hayek’s character are currently unknown but, if chosen, she would join the film that would be inspired by the comic created by Jack Kirby in 1976.
