After drip-feeding information over the past few months, Sega has finally announced the final games coming to its Mega Drive / Genesis Mini console. Among the last 12 titles to be revealed are a couple of surprises, including Tetris and Darius.

Darius never actually came to the original console–it’s a brand-new port, specifically for the Mega Drive / Genesis Mini. The original console’s version of Tetris, meanwhile, is exceedingly rare, with only three physical copies available in the wild. Both games will be pre-installed on the new Mini console.

The other games revealed today are Road Rash II, Strider, Virtua Fighter 2, Alisia Dragoon, Columns, Dynamite Headdy, Kid Chameleon, Monster World IV, Light Crusader, and Eternal Champions. They bring the final count up to 42 games, with other big titles like Earthworm Jim and Sonic the Hedgehog also included.

The Mega Drive Mini / Genesis Mini launches worldwide on September 19, costing $80 / £70 / AU $140. It’s based on the Model 1 version of the original console, except approximately 55% smaller. The box contains the console, a power adapter, two replica three-button USB controllers, one USB to micro-USB power cable, and one HDMI lead.

The game ports that are on the Genesis Mini were handled by M2, a team that is well known for its work on emulation and re-releases. M2 previously worked on Sega Ages and Sega 3D Classics Collection.

Releasing Mini versions of classic consoles has become something of a trend recently. Nintendo led the way with the NES Classic and the SNES Classic, both of which were received well by critics and went on to be hot commercial items. Sony followed suit with the PlayStation Classic, which wasn’t received as warmly.

We haven’t even gotten to E3 2019 yet but we’re already getting big gaming announcements. Sega revealed the final list of games for the Sega Genesis Mini, and even added an extra surprise: instead of 40 games, Sega went ahead and added 12 more, bringing the total number of Genesis classics to 42.

Among the newly announced games are Road Rash II and the 8MB wonder, Strider. Perhaps even cooler is the addition of games that never officially came to the Sega Genesis, including Monster World IV, Tetris, and Darius. Sega said E3 2019 attendees will be among the first in the world to play the Genesis port of Tetris (Tetris came to the Mega Drive in 1989, but Nintendo had US distribution rights at the time).

After putting some inanimate objects in front of me to smash, Blasphemous was confident enough in my abilities to immediately pit me against a hulking giant of a boss – the Warden of the Silent Sorrow. I carefully chipped away at him, trying to stay behind with swift dashes and dodges, until the Warden collapsed in defeat. As I watched the dramatic scene unfold, my silent protagonist – the Penitent One – took off his thorny spiked helmet and filled it with the red mess streaming out of the corpse, before jamming it back on his head in a shower of blood. Yeah, it’s that kind of game.

As the name suggests, Blasphemous won’t shy away from its dark ideas when it arrives on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019. It’s vicious and full of disturbing enemies and more demented religious iconography than you can shake a rosary at. The now-corrupted world is brought to life with some truly gorgeous pixel art, from the fluidity of its character animation to the close-up cutscenes that would look at home in a classic LucasArts adventure game. Even in pixelated form, enemies are varied and disturbing – some bound to large angelic statues that they’ll try and bash against you, while flagellants flog themselves with whips before charging you. There’s also some gigantic… thing, wielding a large dead stag as a weapon while a giggling woman in a dress sits on the giants head. Or maybe that is the head? I don’t know, but the point is, Blasphemous is creepy, OK?

Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a much-loved spooky kids anthology book series, and the movie adaptation arrives in August. It’s produced by Guillermo Del Toro, and a new trailer has been released.

The first trailer was released in March didn’t really make it clear how the movie would be presenting the various stories from Schwartz’s book. However, this latest promo reveals that it’s all a single narrative. A bunch of kids visit an old house and find a spooky book, which is filled with terrifying stories that start coming true. It all looks like massive scary fun–check the trailer out above.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is directed by André Øvredal, who previously proved his genre credentials with The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Trollhunter. It stars Zoe Margaret Colletti (Annie), Michael Garza (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), and Lorraine Toussaint (Orange is the New Black). It hits theaters on August 9.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Del Toro explained why the movie had a single narrative rather than making it a collection of stories. “[Anthology] is something I love, but they’re always as bad as the worst story,” he said. “[This is] a Young Adult movie about childhood around a time when things were changing forever, around 1968 and 1969. It’s the end of childhood in many ways, a crucial time for America. We didn’t retrofit the characters to the stories. We adapted the characters to the story.”

The first volume of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark was published in 1981 and contained 29 stories. It was followed by a second volume in 1984, and a third in 1991.

Netflix has announced a new Jurassic World animated TV series, produced by Dreamworks Animation. Called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, it will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Colin Trevorrow, Scott Kreamer and Lane Lueras.

Set during the timeline of 2015’s Jurassic World, the new series will follow a group of six teenagers who have been stranded on Isla Nublar after dinosaurs wreck havoc across the island. As is tradition for a group of stranded children, they’ll need to evolve from strangers into a family if they’re going to survive.
