Later this year, Nintendo is set to open Nintendo TOKYO, its first official store in Japan.
Revealed during Nintendo’s financial results briefing, Nintendo is hoping that Nintendo TOKYO will “be a new point of contact between consumers and Nintendo that a wide range of people, regardless of age, gender, or experience with games can enjoy.”
In addition to merchandise, Nintendo plans on hosting events in a similar way as Nintendo’s New York store, as well as this shop ideally being a “new base for communicating Nintendo information in Japan.”
Nintendo TOKYO is scheduled to open in Fall of 2019 in the tentatively named Shibuya Parco building in Tokyo, Japan.
Nintendo is focused on expanding the reach of its IP by “actively leveraging the worldwide ubiquity of smart devices and on
IP expansion business, which includes theme parks, video content, and character merchandising.”
During Nintendo’s financial results briefing, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa discussed how Nintendo has evolved its strategy of “gaming population expansion” during the Nintendo DS and Wii era to its new focus to “expand the number of people who have access to Nintendo IP.”
Nintendo’s “gaming population expansion” strategy was adopted due to a preconceived notion that “games were only for a select group of fans,” and it wanted to ensure everyone could game, “regardless of age, gender, or gaming experience.”
As usual, there’s an added benefit to completing as many challenges as possible. If you clear all of the ones from a given week, you’ll also complete a Snowfall challenge, which will unlock a special loading screen that contains a subtle clue pointing to a free Battle Star or Banner hidden somewhere around the island.
If you’ve finished all nine weeks’ worth of challenges thus far, you’ll receive the loading screen pictured below. This one features the Prisoner–the Legendary skin you’ll earn for completing 60 weekly challenges–emerging from its cell in Polar Peak’s dungeon. Look carefully at the ice wall on the left side of the image, however, and you’ll spot an etching of a Battle Star above what appears to be a giant sled.
The sled in question can be found in the area to the south of Shifty Shafts. Glide there at the beginning of a match, head under the sled, and the Battle Star will appear. Collect it and finish the match, and your Battle Star will be leveled up by one tier. If you need more help finding it, we’ve marked its exact location on the map below.
As is the case with other Snowfall challenges, this Battle Star won’t appear unless you’ve completed the required number of challenges. You won’t be able to just head to the right location and pick it up until you’ve completed nine weeks’ worth of challenges and unlocked the above loading screen. Fortunately, we have tips for this season’s trickier missions in our complete Season 7 challenges guide.
There are only a few weeks remaining in Season 7, so you only have a little more time to complete any remaining challenges and unlock this season’s Battle Pass rewards. If you need help finding any of Season 7’s other free Battle Stars and Banners, we’ve put together guides leading you to their locations below.
Kano, the infamous mercenary with a cybernetic laser eye, is officially coming to Mortal Kombat 11.
Revealed on Twitter, Kano is shown as shirtless (as per usual) and is brandishing his knife. Kano’s appearance doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, as he’s one of the franchise’s original fighters and also appeared in Mortal Kombat X.
Ben Affleck has officially hung up the cape and cowl and will not reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in writer-director Matt Reeves’ reboot, The Batman, which opens June 2021.
Warning: full spoilers for DC’s Heroes in Crisis by Tom King and Clay Mann ahead!
Following the horrifying massacre at the superhuman post traumatic stress center, Sanctuary, and its subsequent public reveal care of a mysterious leak in security, DC’s iconic Trinity has been struggling to right the ship that is the superheroic community of the DC Universe — and in Heroes in Crisis #5, the Man of Steel himself got to take his turn in the spotlight. Speaking to a large crowd of people and news cameras, Superman gave a stirring speech about the complicated and challenging questions raised by Sanctuary’s existence, and in the process, managed to highlight the cracks in virtually every idea the DC Universe has been built on. Superman may be the most famous and well-recognized superhero in the world because of his incredible Kryptonian abilities, but this time it was a simple speech that may have changed the DCU for the better.
The Fallout 76 community is once again upset with Bethesda, as previously patched bugs were discovered following the release of Patch 5 earlier this week.
Bethesda took Fallout 76 offline for over an hour today to roll out a “hot fix” aimed at addressing those bugs. While the quick action to correct course is commendable, the incident has once again soured a community already fatigued by controversy and perceived mistreatment.
Patch 5, which was released on January 29, brought with it a long list of gameplay tweaks, such as capping carrying weight and rebalancing certain weapons and perks. The patch notes also include an even longer list of bug fixes, targeting everything from graphics and performance to quests and PvP. However, in they eyes of some players — many of whom can be found posting on the Fallout 76 subreddit — the problems introduced by the patch outweigh those it solved.
