Brooklyn Nine-Nine Renewed For 7th Season

NBC’s police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been renewed for a seventh season. The network announced today that the show is coming back for new episodes to air in the 2019-2020 season.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine originally aired on Fox. It was canceled in 2018, and it took NBC only a matter of hours to pick up the show for a sixth season. The seventh will be the second season on NBC.

“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life,” NBC Entertainment scripted programming executives Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Cheers to [executive producers] Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest.”

The show’s current 18-episode sixth season is airing now. Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Rosa Diaz, directed this week’s episode.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which also stars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, and Andre Braugher, premiered back in 2013. It is very funny. Hamilton creator and Mary Poppins Returns star Lin-Manuel Miranda will play Amy Santiago’s brother in an upcoming episode.

When Does Fortnite Season 8 Start? Downtime Set For Thursday

We’re only a few hours away from the start of Fortnite Season 8. The new season of Epic’s hit battle royale game kicks off across all platforms on Thursday, February 28, with downtime set to begin at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT / 8 PM AET, the developer confirmed on Twitter.

Epic hasn’t specified how long tomorrow’s downtime will last, but the developer notes that the patch size “will be larger than normal updates.” This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as the start of every season introduces a load of new cosmetics to unlock as well as some other big changes; Season 7, for instance, added a snow biome to the map and the game’s first plane vehicle, the Stormwing.

As for what players can expect from Season 8, we know it will have a pirate theme. Epic revealed the theme in a series of teasers in shared leading up to the start of the new season, which referenced treasure and “those who arrive on the waves.” The fourth and final teaser shows off a banana man, which could be one of the new skins players can unlock in the new season. When all the teaser images are combined, they form a skull and volcano.

It’s unclear how the pirate theme will tie into the gameplay, but it seems some major changes will be made to the island. In the lead up to Season 8, players have begun to experience in-game earthquakes during matches. These have been growing in intensity since, to the point that cracks are now appearing in the island.

How these quakes will affect the map will be clear in a few hours, but until then, you can still complete any remaining Season 7 challenges and unlock all the variants of the Prisoner skin. Jedi Fallen Order Will Be At Star Wars Celebration This April

EA has announced that Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will be at this year’s Star Wars Celebration. This will be the first official showcase of the upcoming Respawn game, which is tentatively scheduled to launch this fall.

Star Wars Celebration is scheduled for April 11-15, and, according to The Star Wars Show, the Jedi Fallen Order reveal will occur on Saturday, April 13 during a “special panel” that will “feature a discussion of never before heard details ahead of the game’s fall 2019 release date.” Set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Jedi Fallen Order has you play as a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. We don’t know much else about Jedi Fallen Order, but there’s plenty we want from the game.

In other Star Wars game news, The Chosen One update went live in Battlefront II today, which added Anakin Skywalker as a playable Hero. Anakin represents the final major piece of the series of Clone Wars updates planned for Battlefront II, which also added Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grievous, and Count Dooku, as well as a Geonosis multiplayer map. Certain lines of dialogue from the new characters imply that some female Heroes, like Ahsoka and Padme, might be the next stage of post-launch content for the game.

Jedi Fallen Order represents the second game by Respawn planned for 2019, following the popular Apex Legends. The free-to-play battle royale game takes place in Respawn’s Titanfall universe, specifically several decades after the events of Titanfall 2. In our Apex Legends review, Phil Hornshaw gave the game a 9/10, writing, “Apex Legends is a mix of smart shooter ideas that makes for a competitive, team-based game that gets at all the best parts of battle royale while addressing a lot of the weaknesses. Respawn’s intense focus on team play makes Apex more than just a worthy addition to the genre; it’s an indicator of where battle royale should go in the future.”

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Has Finished Principal Photography

Star Wars: The Mandalorian, the Jon Favreau-produced series coming to Disney+, has officially wrapped principal photography.

Announced in an episode of The Star Wars Show, this news means the show is officially entering the post-production stage of development and is on its way for an eventual release on Disney’s streaming service.

Mortal Kombat 11 Online Stress Test Coming In March Before The Beta

Mortal Kombat 11 is coming soon, but depending on your level of bloodlust, it might not be soon enough. If you just can’t wait to start snapping tendons and ripping spleens in comically over-the-top fashion, you’ll be pleased to know that you might be able to play as early as March 15-17.

That’s when NetherRealm is planning an online stress test for the game. It’s only in the US, and only on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. Plus space will be limited and randomly selected, so you’ll have to register for a chance to enter the test.

This will put the servers through their paces before the other beta test, which will be available for PS4 and Xbox One pre-orders. That test will run from March 28-31. Pre-ordering will also net you Shao Kahn as a playable character.

The announcement came as part of the latest Kombat Kast, which also heralded the return of Johnny Cage. He plays with all the cheesy Hollywood bravado you’ve come to expect, along with some new moves like a camera flash stunner and the ability to call in a stunt double for some truly unfair double-teaming.

The regular Kombat Kast streams are slowly growing the character roster, and this time each character has a swath of cosmetic (ahem, kosmetic) options to choose from.

While both the online stress test and the pre-order beta are only available on PS4 and Xbox One, the full game will also be coming to PC and Nintendo Switch. It will hit all platforms on April 23.
