Red Dead 2’s Pre-Order Bonuses Reveal New Gameplay Details
In addition to highlighting a bunch of nifty collectibles and helpful day one DLC, yesterday’s announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2’s pre-order bonuses gave us a fair amount of insight on new gameplay mechanics, locations and potential details on Red Dead 2’s multiplayer component.
Aside from registering a domain name and acknowledging that Red Dead Redemption 2 would provide a “brand new online multiplayer experience,” we’ve known next to nothing about the online component of Red Dead 2 until this pre-order bonus announcement.
Jared Leto’s Joker Getting His Own Movie
Warner Bros. is reportedly working on a new standalone Joker film centered on Jared Leto’s version of the eccentric clown from Suicide Squad.
According to sources from Variety, Leto will star in and act as an executive producer for the upcoming project in an attempt to expand the Suicide Squad universe. Margot Robbie is already set to star in the Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey, which recently hired Cathy Yan to direct the film.

Every Upcoming Gender-Swapped TV and Movie Reboot
Reboots, re-imaginings, and reboot-quels have been a driving force in Hollywood for a long time. And now with Ocean’s 8 on its way, we figured it was the perfect time to look once again at the many projects that are not just retooling a popular film, show or franchise, but are also rethinking them with female leads replacing the traditional male ones.
In addition to Ocean’s 8, which stars Sandra Bullock in a new spin on the Ocean’s series, there’s also talk of Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, which starred Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, being turned into a TV show with female leads, and famed ’70s series Kung-Fu, featuring David Carradine, getting a sequel show with a central female character.
Ocean’s 8 Review
The slick and sophisticated world of ultra-complicated criminality continues to expand in Ocean’s 8, a satisfying spin-off of the hit Ocean’s 11 franchise with an all-star cast of amazing women, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Sarah Paulson.
It’s as impressive an all-star lineup as any heist movie ever had, and just like all the other entries in the Ocean’s franchise, a big part of the appeal is just watching these stars hang out together, plotting the heist and commiserating about their problems. Ocean’s 8 makes great use of the entire cast’s talents, giving everyone laugh-out-loud and victorious moments as they scheme to steal the world’s most valuable diamond necklace from the prestigious Met Gala in New York City.

14 Things You Need to Know About Mortal Engines
This time last year, I traveled to Wellington, New Zealand to check out the set of Universal’s Mortal Engines, the first adaptation of Philip Reeve’s YA book quartet. Mortal Engines is the directorial debut of longtime Peter Jackson-collaborator Christian Rivers, who is supported on all sides by the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit powerhouse trio Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and Fran Walsh.
Across two days and seven soundstages, I saw the interiors and exteriors of London, now a traction city, meaning it travels around Mortal Engine’s post-post-apocalyptic world on wheels, devouring other cities for resources. Overwatch’s New Social Features Detailed, Includes Endorsements
Blizzard has announced a number of new social features that are coming to Overwatch: Endorsements and Looking For Group. As explained in the latest Overwatch developer update, Endorsements allow people to recognise gameplay behaviours from players on both their own and the enemy team.
There are three categories of behaviour that someone can be highlighted as excelling in: Sportsmanship, Good Teammate, and Shot Caller. Those that maintain a high endorsement level will be periodically rewarded, but game director Jeff Kaplan did not reveal what these rewards entail.
The second feature, Looking for Group, will let players put together a team according to their very specific requirements. You’re able to restrict roles within a group and then prevent players from playing anything but those roles. You can also make voice chat compulsory and tweak other options too. Importantly, Looking For Group won’t function as a matchmaking system, and instead will either create a group and make it joinable or show you a list of groups you can join,
Another new feature on the way to Overwatch as part of this update is the ability to set profiles as private, friends only, or public. As of yet Blizzard hasn’t said exactly when these features will be in the game, but they’re available to test in the PTR now.
Another interesting change coming to the game is a tweak to the way roles are categorized. Offense and defense heroes will now bew bundled under the “Damage” category, which is intended to simplify things and makes it easier to find groups.
In the developer update, Kaplan also teased a couple of tweaks that will be introduced to the Horizon Lunar Colony map. A complete breakdown will be released in the future, but one of the big changes he highlighted is it will no longer be possible to attack the enemy team from the safety of the spawn room at Point B.
The next patch will also push the changes to Symmetra live, moving her to the Damage category and giving her a number of new abilities including an Ultimate that puts a giant shield covering the entire map up. These changes are also available to try out in the PTR, and you can take a look at the full PTR patch notes here.
GameSpot recently launched a five-part documentary series exploring the creation of the Overwatch League, which Blizzard hopes can chart the future of esports and bring it to the masses. In the first episode, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan discusses why he believes esports can be something anyone can enjoy, and Overwatch League commissioner highlights his vision for it. The following episodes, which will be released every Friday, will explore the production team behind Overwatch League, talk to the people funding it, and the players at the heard of it.
