The Big Sick Writers Developing Anthology Series for Apple

The Big Sick writers Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani are developing a potential new anthology series for Apple.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the half-hour comedy series is titled Little America and is based on the true stories featured in Epic Magazine, following the lives of immigrants in America. Gordon and Nanjiani will pen the series and executive produce alongside Lee Eisenberg (The Office, SMILF).

Alan Yang, the co-creator of Netflix’s Masters of None, will also executive produce with Eisenberg serving as showrunner. Joshuah Bearman and Joshua Davis will executive produce for Epic Magazine with co-executive producer Arthur Spector.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Assembles in Epic 10-Year Class Photo

Marvel Studios is celebrating 10 years of  Marvel Cinematic Universe movies with an epic class photo and video featuring a wide list of actors and filmmakers.

The photo, taken on October 7, 2017, includes mostly everyone who has been involved with the MCU since Iron Man released back in 2008. Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), and Vin Diesel (Groot) can be spotted in both the video and photo. However, Terrence Howard (the original War Machine), Edward Norton (the original Hulk), and Kenneth Branagh (Thor director) are notably absent.

Joaquin Phoenix Circling Joker Role in Origin Story Film

Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly gearing up to play The Joker in a new origin story for Warner Bros.

Variety reports that Phoenix is director Todd Phillips’ top choice to play the famous Batman antagonist. Sources speaking to Variety confirmed Phoenix agreed to the role, but Warner Bros. has declined to comment.

IGN previously confirmed that Jared Leto, who played The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, would not be reprising his role for Phillips’ project. Instead, Warner Bros. is aiming to create a new imprint to tell stories of other characters in the DC canon, separate from any of their existing cinematic universes. Jared Leto’s Joker will appear in any DCEU films, including Suicide Squad 2, should the character make an appearance in the film.

Warhammer: Dawn of War 3 Underperformed, Says Relic

Relic Entertainment has halted further development of Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War III and has shifted its focus to other projects.

Relic released a statement to Eurogamer, noting that although the game has a dedicated player base, the game did not hit the team’s sales targets. The title has not picked up enough steam post-launch for Relic to justify further development.

“When a game underperforms, plans need to change. With Dawn of War 3, we simply don’t have the foundation we need to produce major content,” Relic explained in its statement. “We’re working in close partnership with Sega and Games Workshop to determine the best course of action, while shifting focus to other projects within our portfolio.”
