Usually when a key cast member of a TV series is given an opportunity to direct an episode, it’s a somewhat middling affair. Not the effort, but the episode’s stakes/story. Fortunately, for star Clark Gregg, “Fun & Games” was a crucial, action-filled chapter that spiced things up as draw near this space saga’s endgame. There was plenty of brawling, visual FX, and characters getting wiped out. Sure, the body count involved new characters, the ones we’ve met in the future, but it was the sort of herd-thinning this arc needed.
