The site states that the project is in “early development,” and that Dave Callaham has been hired to work on the script. Callaham’s previous credits include The Expendables, Godzilla, and Zombieland: Double Tap, as well as the upcoming superhero movies Wonder Woman 1984 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The animated Hercules hit theaters in June 1997, and while it was a modest box office success, it fell short of the likes of The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, which had preceded it. The voicecast included Danny DeVito, James Woods, and Tate Donovan.
